What you bring to the table
Beck is looking for a qualified MEP Services Electrical Engineer to join an extraordinary project team in Dallas, Texas. While this is an individual role, you will be involved in many facets of preconstruction and construction with the ability to evolve our existing operations. As the MEP Services Electrical Engineer, you will support the team leader on preconstruction and construction duties and responsibilities by leading projects or MEP, FP, and LV scopes of work from $0M to $10M in size with oversight.
The position involves the following essential functions:
- Thorough understanding of construction drawings and specifications
- Assist in the MEP, FP, and LV Peer Review process
- Develop an understanding and become familiar with local building codes
- Pass the PE Exam
- Develop and maintain project related documents (estimates, drawings/models, other) in a consistent, organized structure
- Develop an understanding of project scheduling and lead times
- Assist in the MEP Design / Assist and/or MEP Design / Build process
- Prepare MEP, FP, and LV bid packages and subcontract agreements
- Assist in the pre-qualification of MEP, FP, and LV subcontractors / vendors and management of the sub database
- Utilize the Procore software for sending out Invitations to Bid and for processing construction RFI’s and submittals
- Send out Invitations to Bid for MEP, FP, and LV scopes of work
- Organizing and prepare a Bid Tabulation for MEP, FP, and LV scopes of work
- Present MEP, FP, and LV Bid Tabulations to Beck Preconstruction team
- Communicate effectively and in a professional manner with MEP, FP, and LV subcontractors / vendors
- Thorough understanding of the bid day processes and procedures
- Communicate effectively with project team members
- Thorough understanding of the design and construction processes (3rd party and IPD)
- Participate in presentations to clients and consultants
- Assist in the preparation of MEP, FP, and LV cost estimates based on incomplete documents
- Assist in the procurement of the building permit
- Assist the project team in the development of the construction schedule and the required monthly updates
- Prepare an overall MEP material / equipment schedule from time of submittal to time of delivery.
- Effectively review and expedite shop drawings / submittals
- Lead jobsite MEP, FP, and LV inspections and the preparation of observation reports and/or punch lists.
- Develop an understanding of fundamental Field Engineering and basic dimensional layout knowledge
- Become proficient in the requirements and applications of the latest version of the National Electrical Code
- Develop an understanding of NFPA 70E – Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace
- Join an industry Professional Organization and attend the monthly meetings
- Conduct themselves professionally and represent the organization well
- Demonstrate excellence in the pursuit of daily tasks and responsibilities while expressing flexibility in the means and methods deployed to help the organization achieve its higher goals

This individual has a comprehensive understanding of building construction, excellent time management and organizational skills, a passion to get things done, and possesses uncompromising authenticity and integrity. This individual must have interest in the integrated project delivery method, sharing physical and mental space with fellow design team members, and a deep desire for innovating in process improvement and technology.
You also meet the following requirements:
- 5 – 10 years of relevant electrical design and/or electrical construction experience
- Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas, or planning to take the test
- College graduate with an electrical engineering, architectural engineering, or relevant engineering degree
- Willingness to grow technical competencies is expected. Primary software usage will include Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Procore, CMIC, Revit, OST, BIM360, and DESTINI Estimator
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to sit, stand, and move about the office and construction jobsites; frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment; constantly communicates with subcontractors, vendors, and other members of the project team; ability to adhere to timely and consistent attendance.
