JOB SUMMARY:
The Estimator I position is responsible for assisting with estimates and take-off under local, state, and national codes and in compliance with contract documents of new and existing projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Partnering with the Senior Preconstruction Manager to learn the estimating skills listed.
- Reading and interpreting plans, preparing quantity takeoffs, and preparing and tracking change orders.
- Understanding the job scope process including site logistics, unforeseen and existing conditions, and constructability issues.
- Understanding the cost of work in terms of square foot, labor, and material.
- Developing and maintaining productive subcontractor relationships.
- Assist in the preparation of Job Folder setup.
- Prepare and track change orders.
- Provide support to other estimators while furthering the development of other skills.
- Active participation in the preconstruction process including preliminary cost analysis, timely and accurate estimates, value engineering, creating scope letters, subcontract negotiations, and project scheduling.
- Learn and use Accubid and other estimating software for all estimating tasks.
- Assist in achieving the department’s sales and gross margin objectives.
- Acquire additional training as needed to improve communication and leadership skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Two (2) years of field experience in the electrical trade, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Basic blueprint reading experience
- Knowledge of basic mathematical operations and calculations (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, order of operations) to calculate labor, materials, and/or cost estimates for projects and work orders, etc
- Strong computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in the English language at a 12th-grade level
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver's license in good standing to meet the company's driving requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Degree/Diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field
- Bilingual
- Journeyman or Master Electrician License

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- General Office Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.
- Environmental Conditions: The work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled setting with minimal exposure to loud noise, temperature variations, or other environmental factors.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Mobility: Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 25 pounds, such as files, documents, or office supplies, may be requested. Must be able to access all areas of the facility and projects to determine purchasing needs.
- Communication: Regular communication with colleagues, vendors, and other stakeholders requires the ability to exchange information effectively in both verbal and written form.
TRAVEL REQUIRED:
