What you bring to the table
Beck is looking for a talented Senior Project Accountant to join our team. A person in this role will have previous experience satisfactorily managing project accounting for construction jobs $1M to $20M in size and scope or supporting a Senior Project Accountant on a project larger in scope. In this role, you may exercise direction or have some supervisory responsibility of receptionist or administrative assistant or may perform the work alone.
The job involves the following essential functions and responsibilities:
- Process subcontractors pay applications and vendor invoices
- Prepare and submit owner pay applications monthly
- Maintain Owner and Subcontractor Contracts and change orders in Accounting/Project Management software and on project server
- Create and maintain various logs and reports for project team
- Monitor Direct Purchase Program for client sales tax savings
- Assist with vendor set up and vendor prequalification
- Monitor job cost and process journal entries in accounting software (CMiC)
- Assist in internal and external project audits
- Answer subcontractor, vendor, and owner billing questions
- Assist with project close-out process
- Ensure compliance of subcontractor contracts and pay applications for Accounting, Treasury, General Ledger, Legal, and Risk departments
- Assist and provide training for expense management system (Chrome River) for team's business-related credit card expenses (personal and company expense card)
- Assist Superintendent with hourly payroll as needed
- Monitor and maintain subcontractor’s certified payroll for project if required
- Maintain project and other miscellaneous electronic filing
- Coordinate safety and security badging for jobsite and/or office personnel
- Meeting coordination for project team as well as team-building event coordination
- General office and project administration
- Support team with other miscellaneous duties as needed
Who we think will be a great fit
An analytical problem-solver with an understanding of accounting and business administration functions, uncompromising authenticity and integrity, a positive attitude, and a passion for learning and taking initiative to get things done. This person has the ability to work under pressure, at times, as a collaborative team player with multiple managers on different projects. You will also meet the following requirements:
- Minimum of 7 years of bookkeeping and/or job, field, or office administration experience
- Associates Degree or higher in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with CMiC and Textura Preferred
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Enhanced understanding of:
- Mechanic's lien laws for the state in which work is being performed
- Owners/Subcontractors Contract Documents, Purchase Orders, and Pay Applications
- Insurance Requirements for Owner/Subcontractor, i.e. General Liability, Workers Compensation, CCIP, OCIP, etc.
- Direct Purchase Program
- Must be able to prioritize workload, multitask and exercise outstanding organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure, be a team player and have a positive attitude
- Ability to work with multiple teams and project a positive professional image
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to sit, stand, and move about the office; frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment; frequently lift and move up to ten pounds; constantly communicates with project and operations teams, Beck employees, and external vendors; ability to adhere to timely and consistent attendance.
