Job Overview
We are looking for a motivated MEP Engineering Intern to support our team on HVAC/MEP projects in San Jose, CA. This internship offers hands-on experience across all phases of a project—from estimating and design to execution and closeout. Under the guidance of experienced Project Engineers, you’ll assist with cost estimates, drafting and designing in AutoCAD and Revit, performing load calculations, and helping with project documentation such as RFIs and RFQs.
This role is ideal for a junior or senior engineering student with a strong interest in mechanical systems and project management. A successful intern will be detail-oriented, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to a collaborative team focused on delivering quality and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist project engineers in the design and coordination of HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems for commercial and industrial projects.
- Support the preparation of technical drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Perform basic load calculations and sizing of mechanical systems under supervision.
- Help with estimating project costs and preparing material take-offs.
- Assist in reviewing and organizing project documentation, including RFIs, RFQs, submittals, and change orders.
- Participate in job site visits to observe field conditions and project progress.
- Support procurement activities by helping coordinate with vendors and suppliers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including construction managers, designers, and subcontractors.
- Maintain clear communication and documentation throughout project phases.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in a Mechanical Engineering or related engineering program.
- Strong interest in HVAC/MEP systems and the construction industry.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit; coursework or project experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management abilities.
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
