What you bring to the table:
Beck is looking for an Instrument Man to join an extraordinary project team in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. As the Instrument Man, you will work under the supervision and in support of the project Field Engineer or Senior Field Engineer to sequence and supervise respective work with associated subcontractors to ensure successful and safe project layout and execution.
The job involves the following responsibilities:
- Assist Field Engineer in verifying and maintaining accuracy of measurements and calculations of all physical site dimensions, building layout, and layout for all subcontractor work on large commercial construction projects (Concrete and Steel)
- Learn basic field calculations and procedures; progress to calculating angles and distances for points to be set
- Learn to interpret construction documents, plans and specifications
- Report quantities of work-in-place
- Assist in layout and engineering while working with internal team and subcontractors
- Maintain and protect all tools and equipment
- Discern between high and unacceptable work quality
- Follow direction, collaborate with all team members, and complete assigned tasks

You possess uncompromising authenticity and integrity, effective time management skills, a thorough understanding of building construction, and a passion to get things done.
You also meet the following requirements:
- High School diploma or GED
- Basic safety awareness
- Experience with commercial construction company preferred
- Fundamental understanding of project documents
- Experience using Robotic Total Station hardware, Bluebeam, and Revit or comparable construction technologies is a plus
Essential Functions:
Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment; frequently ascends/descends ladders and stairs; constantly works in outdoor weather conditions; frequently moves equipment up to 50Ibs to various locations on site; constantly communicates with subcontractors, vendors, and other members of project team; ability to constantly move around job site; ability to adhere to consistent and timely attendance.
