About the position
Our summer internship program allows you to learn more about the electrical construction industry and our business before beginning your career after graduation. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in providing building information modeling (BIM) services for company projects and assisting in the development of fully constructed 3D models and detailed construction documents supporting field electricians with challenging electrical installations. You will work closely with experienced designers and BIM specialists, gaining valuable insights into the electrical design process.
Day in the life
- Works closely with design teams while applying detailed attention to modeling, clashing and annotating sheets. Gathers and requests specific information from other design disciplines necessary to move forward and complete electrical designs on schedule.
- Assists with constructible 3D model content and detailed electrical construction installation documents. Completes 2D and 3D drafting tasks to support electrical construction initiatives, utilizing standard Company software, such as Revit.
- Participate in developing conceptual designs, sketches, or value engineering ideas to help project managers or estimators prepare estimates. Prepares calculations, specifications, cable pull schedules, reports and other documents as needed.
- Works with project managers as needed to develop engineered construction installation drawings from contract documents developed by outside firms.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must currently be enrolled in a degree or certificate program in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Familiarity with using Autodesk, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office software.
- Basic skills to read, interpret, and understand electrical contracts, plans, drawings, and specifications preferred.
- A strong desire to learn more about electrical design and construction.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
Pay Range
- $24.00 – 26.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
