Responsibilities:
Brasfield & Gorrie, a leading General Contractor in the Southeast, is searching for a Pipe Detailer to join our growing Utilities team at our Birmingham, Alabama office.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Assist in creating 3D detailed drawings for mechanical piping and process piping fabrication based on 2D construction documents.
- Help produce detailed piping submittal packages for review by engineers.
- Support the production of detailed construction drawings with accurate measurements and specifications.
- Assist in creating requests for information (RFIs) and proposing solutions.
- Work with designers and engineers to provide feedback and suggestions.
- Utilize point clouds and 3D models to assist in retrofitting new pipe and equipment into existing systems.
- Communicate with project managers and field personnel to gather and convey information required for technical layout and coordination.
- Assist in ordering and tracking piping materials.
- Support value engineering evaluations for piping systems.
- Aid in performing clash detection and coordination for piping systems.
- Perform project site visits to obtain field measurements
Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in construction, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with mechanical and piping construction methods and system designs, particularly for water/wastewater facilities.
- Basic understanding of process mechanical and civil drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of piping/mechanical systems installation and coordination in a 3D design environment.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and other mechanical piping design software is a plus.
- Good oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to learn independently.
- Ability to manage tasks effectively and prioritize appropriately.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new mechanical piping technologies and practices.
