Job Summary
Technician is entry-level at Empower Electric. Technician will generally work with the direction of Superintendent or Project Manager. Technician is responsible for following instructions from Superintendent and Project Manager for proper installation and documentation of all types of cables, connections, and station equipment.
Essential Installation Functions
- Install, terminate, and test all types of telecommunication cables and related equipment
- Complies with applicable telecommunication standards and building codes
- Assists with documentation of cabling systems
General Functions
- Works, dresses, and communicates in a professional manner that enhances Empower's reputation in our industry
- Complies with company policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Follows directions accurately and performs tasks as efficiently as possible
- Looks for "the next thing to do" to ensure efficient use of time on job sites
- Accurately complete required job documentation on time cards
- Constantly work to improve company methods and procedures
Qualifications
- Familiarity with proper use of common hand tools
- Good mechanical aptitude
- High energy level
- Good natural or corrected eyesight with ability to distinguish colors
- Good communication and customer relations skills
- Basic understanding of electronics of electrical theory
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Attendance Requirements
- Reports to assigned job sites at assigned times
- Works all hours required to complete responsibilities
- Majority of work performed Monday - Friday
Work Environment
Work in office/warehouse with regular trips to customer sites and client offices. work sites include both new construction and renovation and may be either inside or outside. travel and occasional out of town stays required.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. the employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairs, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. distance vision, color vision.
Personal Protective Equipment
Occasional use of company-provided hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection. Must provide their own hard-soled work boots.
